A Serene, Nature-Filled Couple Session at Matthaei Botanical Gardens

It’s not every day you get to photograph a couple who literally share the same name — meet Chris & Chris.

Their love story is just as sweet and charming as their matching names. When we met at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens, just north of Ann Arbor, I instantly felt the calm, gentle connection between them. This location — with its lush indoor conservatory and peaceful outdoor trails — was the perfect reflection of who they are together: grounded, joyful, and beautifully in sync.

The light that day was soft and warm, filtering through the glass ceiling of the greenhouse and wrapping around the greenery like a quiet hug. We wandered through the indoor garden paths, pausing for quiet moments surrounded by tropical plants and delicate textures. Outside, the open fields and gentle shade added contrast and movement — the kind of natural simplicity that makes everything feel effortlessly right.

Chris & Chris moved together so naturally — laughing, exploring, and exchanging little looks that said everything without words. Their youthfulness wasn’t just about age; it was in their energy, their ease, and the way they made each other feel completely at home.
