Yan & Roger

Elopement in the City, Courthouse Wedding + Downtown Ann Arbor Walk

There’s something incredibly special about elopements — the intimacy, the freedom, and the raw, unfiltered emotion. Yan and Roger’s wedding day was exactly that, and more.

They chose to say “I do” at the Plymouth courthouse, in a simple ceremony surrounded by only the most essential people — just love, vows, and commitment. No frills, no distractions. Just the two of them and the moment they’ll always remember.

After the ceremony, we stepped out into downtown Ann Arbor for their city walk session — and even though it was high noon with the sun directly overhead, the harsh light worked in our favor. The bold lines of the buildings, the sharp contrast of light and shadow, and the urban textures created the perfect backdrop for something a little different—something fierce, passionate, and full of energy.

Yan and Roger were glowing — not just from the sunlight, but from within. Their chemistry was magnetic. They laughed, danced, and held each other like the world had just opened up for them (which, in many ways, it had). We wandered through the streets, stopped by coffee shops, leaned into the architecture, and played with every patch of sunlight we could find.

Sometimes, love doesn’t need golden hour or perfect weather. Sometimes it just needs two people who are wildly in love — and aren’t afraid to show it.

Yan and Roger, thank you for trusting me to capture your story. Your fire, warmth, and joy were contagious. Here’s to many more spontaneous adventures and coffee-fueled city walks ahead.
